The Mauna Loa Helicopters Project
When we started working with Mauna Loa Helicopters in February of 2008, the school had a decent website which was being primarily promoted by paid advertising on search engines. We began an extended search engine optimization (SEO) campaign which included re-organizing internal link structure, securing links from other sites, adding alt text tags, honing keywords, and creating a series of informational articles which were shared on the website and in blogs.
The next step was the creation of a new more polished website. We chose to utilize some of their high quality professional photographs as backgrounds on the site, crafting seven different color schemes for the seven main sections of the site. Each photo was set to resize to match the width of different web browsers. We also created more informational pages, added more photos, and switched many of the image files from jpgs to the more versatile pngs, allowing for a layered effect with use of transparencies.
To tie their companies together and boost search engine rankings, we created strong links between three Mauna Loa websites (including their helicopter software site) as well as including reciprocal links with their Facebook page. |
In Their Own Words
"We could not be more happy with the quality of our website. The professional layout Dave has done really holds us apart as one of the top companies in our field. Our prospective and current customers comment to us regularly about our stunning website.
We used to spend a lot of money each month to be ranked highly on search engines, Dave keeps us in the top listings better and for a fraction of the cost. Since the vast majority of our customers are from out of the area and find us on line, it is imperative to our business that we are ranked in the top listings on search engines and that our site is professional and hard hitting. We feel Dave accomplishes this better than any designer we have worked with."

The Mauna Loa Tours Project
The third phase of the Mauna Loa project was the construction of a tour site. The Mauna Loa Helicopter Tour website went online in early 2011. The site features information about Mauna Loa tours, an online reservation form, and a photo contest.
