Humboldt Rose Society Site Wins Prestigious National Award
The Humboldt Rose Society's site at www.humboldtrose.org was recently awarded the gold medal by the American Rose Society as the finest local rose society website of 2007. Humboldt becomes the smallest society ever to win the prestigious national award and joins the ranks of the societies of Atlanta, Georgia; Orlando, Florida; and Minneapolis / St. Paul. The honor will include an article in the American Rose magazine, and prominent placement on the American Rose Society website at www.ars.org (Google Pagerank: 6)
About the Project
Started in March of 2007, the site, which includes an "ask the experts" feature, rose galleries, and an archive of newsletter articles, has now grown to fifty pages and developed a following of around 300 unique visitors per month. Those numbers are only expected to improve once the award is announced nationwide.
Into the Future
Planned future expansions to the site include more interactive elements, original feature articles, and extended information about local climate, soils, etcetera. Humboldt is going to be co-hosting the District rose convention in October of 2007 and the site may expand to include convention information and an online store.
